So do they substitute the cables in excess of air to each residence or splice the FTTP cable onto the prevailing cable from the road to each property. Definitely that will materially degrade the speed. Wouldn't bother my father as he is pleased with his 80mb but can see numerous wanting more rapidly.Our past household (designed 1984) was like that.
